(STOP THE) TENTH CRUSADE
This the Holy City we’ve built to honor God
Why, then must we cover it with blood?
Father, help us before we go insane
Oh please stop the Tenth Crusade
The swords are drawn and the bombs are flying
And all the way from Baghdad to Beirut
Innocent people are dying
Innocent men across the border
Are being without reason held
And it seems for oil and power
Our dignity we’re willing to sell
The preacher on TV
Calls for the destruction of the Palestinian by the Israeli
And says it is the will
Of the Almighty
One extremist says for Bin Laden he will lay down his life
While the other claims to be a warrior for Jesus Christ
Father, help us before we go insane

Prisoners in Abu Grahib
Criminals or not
Are being beaten and raped
And it is said, all for freedom’s sake
This is the time
Of the Angel of Death
Lord, have mercy on us
Please put this evil to rest
But dust we are
And to dust we shall return
And maybe one day, my brothers and sisters
Our lessons we shall learn
And the Pope speaks words unwise
And in misunderstanding, the world is set ablaze

From the great Dome of the Rock
To the Sepulcher
To the Wailing Wall
Now we have nations telling each other how to live
Even if we can’t forget, I wish we could forgive

There are no true knights
There is no more Saladin
This is a war
Whose only prize is destruction
And when the dust has cleared
After the cries of wailing and tears
Maybe we can live in peace
And put to rest our fears
But until that day I will watch this war

Be you Christians, Muslims, or Jews

This is a song inspired, obviously by current world events, but many of them are specifically mentioned, such as the conflicts in Iraq and between Israel and Lebanon and more recently, the false identification of a Canadian Muslim as a terrorist who was deported to Syria and beaten by athourities. Another one is the mention of the current situation regarding Pope Benedict XVI's recent statements and the reaction to them in the Muslim world, trying to show the misunderstanding on both sides.
