IN MEMORY OF DEAR ROBERT (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOB)

In these days of strife, a man was born
Met both with love and scorn

Robert was his name
But he would rather you call him Bob
He had the power to calm a raging mob

Many songs and psalms he wrote
He spoke with peace while in his heart, the demons he smote

Revelations he spoke and of slavery he sang
Through the many years since he left, his voice echoed and rang

He passed from us young, but lives on
Any man remembered is not truly gone

Yet even in my sorrow and mourning for his death
I cannot express how I view him, even with all my breath.

So Bob, even though you can’t hear me, to you, this I say
Bob, happy birthday!
