DROP ME A LINE

It’s been a little while
Since I’ve heard from you, my friend
Won’t you please drop me a line?
Because I’d love to hear from you again

When I woke up this morning
I rolled out of bed
And picked up the phone to talk to you
But I only got the voicemail instead

How are the wife and kids?
How is the new job?
How’s life been since high school?
Lord knows we haven’t spoken in so long!

It’s been a little while
Since I’ve heard from you my friend
Won’t you please drop me a line?
Because I’d love to hear from you again

But if you’re not around
Not to worry, that’s okay
Yeah, I’ll just take a rain check
For some other day

Or you could write a letter
And send it through the post
I’ll collect the mail on Tuesday
‘Till then, I’ll just be sending you my best

The combined influence of Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, and UB40 brought this one about - a combination of Blues, Reggae, Jazz, and Soul.

It's fairly apparent what this one is about - You want to hear from someone you haven't heard from in a while; we've all been there. This isn't nessecarily about or not about any one person - it's the concept. It's supposed to evoke sort of a melancholy emotion more than anything. It's supposed to be both happy and sad.

I can say as well that I definately enjoyed writing this number and I'm hoping to do more with it.

The preview image is a photograph featured in the booklet for Van Morrison's "The Best of Van Morrison, Volume 3" from 2007, but I found it online on Morrison's MySpace Music page as well - [link]

Oooo... I like this one! I would love to here it with some music!!! It almost has a classy jazz feel to it. I know thats funny to say coming from just lyrics but thats how I picture it...

Aww, thank you! I'm so glad you liked it! There definately Jazz and influence in its construction. I'll have to work on some music for it. You're welcome to come up with something of your own if you like ^_^ Especially since you play guitar, I'd love to hear something you can compose for it!

Hehe Ive been wanting to write a jazz song for a while but my voice goes best with that type of music, but Im not quite sure how to do it! I might mess around with it for a while :D
