ALL OVER

It’s all over the news
Propaganda, lies
Foolishness and half-truths

If you take a moment
And you look for yourself
I think you’ll see
Things really aren’t so well

The man in Palestine
Is condemned to starve and watch his family die
While the Zionist, slandering mount Zion
Gets to live the good and rich life

The reporter says
We have to search mosques for a terrorist
But he won’t search a church
For a white supremacist

It’s all over the news
Propaganda, lies
Foolishness and half-truths

Or take the storms down in New Orleans
The newspaper in the aftermath says
“Look at this picture of the White man
These items, for his family he is taking
And Look at this picture of the Black man
The law he is breaking”

My question is
Where are the weapons of mass destruction they said they’d find?
Tell us the real reason
You put the soldiers on the line

We say the pledge of allegiance each and every day
But if we don’t know what we really believe
We’re like the other man who changes his mind
With each word he would say
It’s just our common sense
That we give away

It’s all over the news
Propaganda, lies
Foolishness and half-truths

We talk about the Geneva Convention
And international laws of human rights’ protection
But what about the photos from Abu Grahib prison
Or in World War II
The treatment of Japanese civilians

And if we’re really fighting
For the good of the people of all nations
Why, in Iraq, have we killed so many women and children?

Just like in Vietnam
You don’t care if you’re right or wrong
And you’ll drop a million bombs
Just for Uncle Sam

It’s all over the news
Propaganda, lies
Foolishness and half-truths

Say you love Jesus
And you do what he pleads
Well, correct me if I’m wrong
But wasn’t Jesus a man of peace?

Think every Muslim
Subscribes to terrorism
But what about the Zionists
Who give an ill name to Judaism?

If we really want to fight terrorism
Perhaps we should also take a look
At our own internal ism and schism

It’s all over the news
Propaganda, lies
Foolishness and half-truths

So decide for yourself
And look to Jah
To know what’s true
And don’t look to the politician or the newsman
To tell you the truth
This is another of my sociopolitical songs, a pure reggae song inspired by brother Peter Tosh's hit "Equal Rights," from his 1977 album of the same name. It addresses many ills such as the hypocrisy of Zionism and how it gives an ill name to Judaism, the problems with both Bush and Kerry-type politicians (and politicians in general), double-standards in Western thinking, the West's strong bias toward Israel and against Islam and the Arab world in general. Things like that, especially being derived from recent events such as the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and a statement that I have heard was made by MSNBC and former CNN journalist Tucker Carlson regarding the searching of mosques for terrorists. Well, there's not much else to say...peace and love, enjoy.
